Role Description

This part-time Optometrist role is an on-site position located in Minneapolis, MN. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations including refractions, ocular health assessments, postoperative care and contact lens evaluations. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing and managing ocular conditions, prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses, and providing education on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care. The Optometrist will collaborate with clinic staff to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and adherence to clinical protocols. Additional duties may include coordinating referrals, maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge, and contributing to a welcoming, inclusive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted license to practice optometry in Minnesota (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Strong clinical skills in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis and management of common ocular diseases.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings and treatment plans clearly to patients of diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to patient-centered care, including attention to detail, empathy, professionalism, and respect for individual needs and preferences.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based clinical environment, including collaboration with technicians, front office staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Comfort with electronic health records (EHR) and basic digital tools for documentation, scheduling, and patient communication.
• Willingness to maintain continuing education and stay current with developments in optometry and evidence-based practice.
