Optometric Technician - Medical Assistant

The optometric technician plays a vital role in maintaining efficient patient flow by assisting the optometrist with pre-screenings and tests before examinations. No optical experience or certification is required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain a professional environment in the office and pretest room.
• Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
• Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
• Complete paperwork and perform tests prior to examinations.
• Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings.
• Perform exam pre-screening.
• Review prescriptions and patient information, and consult with team members as needed.
• Maintain equipment properly.

Qualifications

• Previous retail/optical experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to learn optical terminology and procedures.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
