Position Overview

The optometric technician plays a key role in maintaining efficient patient flow by conducting pre-screenings and tests before the optometrist's examination. No prior optical experience or certification is required; training is provided.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure high-quality patient care.
2. Maintain a professional environment and appearance.
3. Understand ocular terminology, diseases, and abbreviations.
4. Explain preliminary examinations to patients.
5. Complete paperwork and perform testing prior to examinations.
6. Promote visual field testing and retinal screenings.
7. Perform exam pre-screening.
8. Review prescriptions and patient information, and consult with team members as needed.
9. Maintain all equipment properly.

Candidate Profile

Preferred but not required: retail/optical experience. Must have strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills, with a professional appearance and attitude. Ability to learn optical knowledge and instruct patients clearly is essential.
