Job summary

Southern Illinois Eye Care in Chester, IL is seeking an Optometric Technician I to support optometrists with pre-screening tests and exams, and to collect patient histories. You’ll verify insurance, schedule appointments, and help coordinate patient flow to ensure a high-quality patient experience.

The role offers full-time hours with no evenings or weekends, and a pay range of $15-$17/hour along with comprehensive benefits including PTO, holidays, insurance, and 401k match.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of customer service experience (optometric or medical experience is a plus!)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong multitasking and organizational abilities in a fast-paced setting

Responsibilities

• Support optometrists by performing pre-screening tests and assisting with exams
• Collect patient medical histories and explain vision benefits clearly and confidently
• Train patients on contact lens use and care
• Verify insurance, schedule appointments, and keep communication flowing smoothly
• Help coordinate patient flow and contribute to a seamless, high-quality experience
