Eye Care Associates of Michiana in South Bend, IN is seeking an Optometric Technician who is highly motivated and detail oriented. This role supports the Optometrist with patient care and aims to deliver a flawless patient experience. Training is available for candidates with healthcare interest and strong people skills.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-screen patients and administer diagnostic tests.
  • Gather and document patient medical history.
  • Communicate with doctors, staff, and patients.
  • Answer phones, greet patients, and schedule appointments.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage and vision benefits.
  • Train patients on contact lens use and care.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verify benefits.
  • Post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products.
  • Document optometry exams and procedures as performed.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and flow, communicating delays.
  • Assist other team members to reach goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Optometric Technician I - Eye Care Associates of Michiana in South Bend, IN

Eye Care Associates of Michiana - South Bend has an immediate opening for an Optometric Technician who is highly motivated and detail oriented. The role is primarily responsible for assisting the Optometrist in patient care while demonstrating how we love eyes, care about the people behind them and execute a flawless patient experience. The ideal candidate will have experience or an interest in the healthcare field with outstanding people skills. We are willing to train!

Responsibilities
  • Pre-screen patients before they see the optometrist, including the administration of diagnostic tests
  • Gather patient’s medical history
  • Communicating with doctors, staff, and patients
  • Answer phone calls, greet patients and schedule appointments
  • Educate patients on their insurance coverage and vision benefits
  • Train patients on proper contact lens use and care
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verification of benefits
  • Accurately post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold
  • Assist other members of the team as needed to reach individual and team goals
  • Accurately and thoroughly document optometry exams and procedures as they are being performed by the doctor.
  • List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the doctor.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 1+ years’ experience in optical/optometry industry preferred, but not required
