An Optometric Technician is a valuable asset to an optometrist as they assist in providing a world-class Total Patient Experience. An Optometric Technician handles a wide range of duties, using optical equipment to perform initial testing to prepare patients for an exam with an optometrist.
Responsibilities :
- Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering excellent medical support.
- Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
- Practice urgency at all times with patient’s time, as well as doctor’s time and schedule.
- Operate manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor / keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX or OCT.
- Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.).
- Clean all examination equipment, including tonometer tips.
- Set phoropter to patient RX or reset to plano as per doctor’s request.
- Interact courteously and professionally with all levels of staff.
- Assist with other duties as needed in the office.
- Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager.
- Show a desire to gain industry knowledge and training.
- Demonstrate initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
- Create a positive, team-oriented, patient-focused work environment.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Reliable transportation to move between multiple work locations with minimal notice.
- Ability to work weekends when applicable.
- Commitment to working over 40 hours to meet business needs.
Requirements :
- High school diploma or GED, or one-year related experience/training, or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
- Favorable background check results.
- Own vehicle, insured, and a licensed driver in the current state of residence.
- At least 18 years old.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Physical Requirements :
