Windsor Eye Care is seeking a motivated, hard working individual to perform the administrative and clinical duties under the direction of an Optometrist. Applicant must be outgoing, customer service oriented and a team player. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, coding information for insurance purposes, returning patient phone calls, daily schedule review, and requesting referrals.

Summary of essential (everyday) job functions

  • Answering and returning phone calls
  • Verify patient insurance and eligibility
  • Schedule patient appointments and follow-up
  • Collecting co-pays
  • Triage to other Doctors offices
  • Assist in medication verification
  • Electronic health record knowledge
  • Receive and sort mail
  • Dispense glasses and contact lens
  • Close out “End of Day”
  • File vision claims
  • Perform daily schedule review to ensure necessary preparations are made for the next day

Minimum requirements * High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Good telephone and communication skills

Additional Abilities required * English language skills

  • Good oral expression and comprehension

Clinical Responsibilities:

Taking and recording patient medical histories, performing preliminary testing, preparing patients for examination, administering ophthalmic drops as directed by Optometrist, fitting contact lenses, and assisting Optometrist with minor office procedures.

Essential job functions to be developed

  • Record patients’ history, current medications, family & social history and HPI
  • Take and record blood pressure reading when instructed by Optometrist
  • Perform preliminary testing
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination, keeping the rooms neat and clean
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and contact lenses
  • Prepare and administer ophthalmic drops as directed by Optometrist
  • Help Optometrist examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving inserting contacts.
  • Knowledge of treatment options for different diagnosis codes
  • Continuing education and expanding knowledge to include E-learning materials provided by Electronic Health Records system
  • Other various clinical and administrative duties as assigned

Required education: * Bachelor's or Associates

Required experience: * Front Desk: 1 year

  • Customer Service: 3 years
  • Optometry: 1-3 years

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
