Job summary

Southwest Eye Care in Jordan/New Prague is hiring a full-time Optometric Assistant to support doctors during clinic times, perform pretests, take patient histories, and manage front desk duties. Travel to other offices is required.

Eligible candidates should have a high school diploma; ABO, NCLE, CPO, CPOA, COA certifications are preferred. The role includes optical duties, frame and lens ordering, and billing tasks. Starting pay is $20.00-21.00/hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years related optical experience or customer service experience preferred.
• ABO, NCLE, CPO, CPOA, COA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors during clinic times by taking patient health histories, visual acuities, and perform pretests requested by the doctors.
• Perform front desk duties including answering phones, greeting patients, checking in patients, prepping charts, filing, verifying insurance, billing professional fees, and scheduling appointments.
• Optical duties including frame selections, ophthalmic lens ordering, frame ordering, glasses adjustments, dispensing glasses, dispensing contacts, repairing glasses, verifying orders, and notifying patients when product is available.
• Contact lens responsibilities including patient contact lens orders, verifying contact lens orders, ordering trials, and I&R classes.
• Order medical supplies and eye drops; perform other duties such as reconciling statements, ordering office supplies, cleaning the office, and travel to other offices.
