Job summary

Exowatt in Miami, FL is seeking an optical/test engineer to own end-to-end test benches—from indoor characterization to outdoor on-sun stands—driving data-driven design decisions.

You will automate tests with Python, develop robust alignment procedures, and collaborate with CAD teams using Creo and SolidWorks to implement fixtures. This role blends bench work with field testing and requires hands-on hardware experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on lab, test, or integration with optical hardware.
• Experience on an optical bench: mounting, aligning, and characterizing optics.
• Instrumentation fundamentals: sensor selection, signal conditioning, DAQ integration.
• Fluency with Python for test automation and data analysis.
• Experience with AI coding agents as a daily engineering tool.

Responsibilities

• Own test stands end to end from planning to day-to-day operation.
• Design and run test campaigns; quantify uncertainty and present results.
• Automate tests in Python; build data pipelines and reports.
• Develop alignment procedures and tooling for optical assemblies.
• Integrate instruments into DAQ systems and ensure safety.
