Position: Opto-Mechanical Engineer – Semiconductor R&D

Location: San Jose, CA

Compensation: $160,000–$200,000 + Bonus + Full Benefits + Paid Relocation

What You’ll Do

• Design & Develop: Define, prototype, and launch advanced opto-mechanical systems for our new metrology platform.
• Innovate: Research emerging technologies and translate high-level ideas into practical, high-impact solutions.
• Lead Technical Direction: Make critical design decisions that shape product architecture and deliver measurable customer value.
• Integrate Systems: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring together lasers, polarizing optics, fiber optics, precision mechanics, and electronics.
• Optimize Manufacturing: Define tooling and processes to support volume production alongside product development.

Requirements

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) inMechanical Engineering,Optical Engineering,Physics, or related field
• 7+ yearsof experience in precision mechanical design and product development
• Track record of moving designs fromconcept to volume production
• Expertise in at least one of:kinematic design,precision optics,vacuum systems,adhesives, orhigh-precision machining
• Strong skills withCADandFEA tools(preferably Siemens NX and ANSYS)
• Self-driven and organized, with a history of delivering on schedule
• Excellent communicator and collaborator across technical and business teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with opto-mechanical systems such aslasers, interferometers, or collimators
• Familiarity with optical design andray tracing software(Zemax, FRED, or equivalent)
• Background insemiconductor capital equipmentorprecision motion control
