Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ is seeking an Inspector to perform visual and dimensional inspections of precision optics and mechanical components. You will use metrology tools such as loupes, microscopes, calipers, micrometers, and indicators, and verify parts against manufacturing prints.

You will maintain records in our Manufacturing Database and support ISO9001 quality standards. The role requires high attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to read drawings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A year of related inspection experience is preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret dimensional tolerances.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to wear PPE and handle small parts safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of precision optics and mechanical components.
• Use metrology devices (eye loupe, microscope, calipers, micrometers, indicators) per procedures.
• Identify non-conformances and document results in the Manufacturing Database.
• Inspect products against manufacturing prints and maintain tidy records.
• Collaborate with peers/vendors to ensure quality and safety compliance.
