Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Supplier Development Engineer for the Space Lasers team to build and scale a high-performance supplier base for free-space optical communication systems. You will drive supplier quality, cost, and delivery improvements across Starlink hardware, collaborating with design and procurement to enable rapid, reliable production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or STEM discipline.
• 2+ years in manufacturing/process engineering.
• 2+ years hands-on optics, photonics, laser tech, or precision mechanical design/manufacturing/testing.

Responsibilities

• Improve quality, cost, delivery, and capacity metrics for mechanical hardware used in Starlink systems.
• Collaborate with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to understand design intent and metrology.
• Drive design for manufacturing feedback for scalable production designs.
• Support procurement to strategically source parts with suitable supplier competencies.
• Define supplier technical and quality requirements for NPI and production.
• Lead root-cause analysis to resolve supplier quality issues and liaise with stakeholders.
