Job summary

Voyager Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for the Optics Lab in San Diego, CA. You will develop and sustain optical manufacturing processes, support NPI and production, and drive improvements across alignment, inspection, and metrology.

You will collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations to meet safety, cost and production-readiness goals. The role emphasizes translating requirements into repeatable production methods, mentoring technical staff, and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Manufacturing, Mechanical, Optical Engineering, Physics or Industrial Engineering.
• Knowledge of manufacturing process development, production documentation, RCA and CI methods.
• Experience with optical assembly, alignment, inspection, metrology or optomechanical integration.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, specs and acceptance criteria.
• Strong communication, hands-on problem-solving, data analysis, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and improve optical and optomechanical manufacturing processes and related docs.
• Support NPI, prototype builds, pilot production and production release.
• Develop repeatable methods for optical cleaning, bonding, alignment, and metrology.
• Translate drawings and requirements into production documentation and acceptance criteria.
• Design and sustain fixtures, tooling, metrology setups, and test equipment.
