Job summary

MKS Inc. is seeking an energetic student intern in Colorado to assist in process automation and continuous improvement efforts within optical manufacturing.

You will learn Lean Six Sigma concepts, perform DOE with JMP, and support NPI projects while gaining hands-on experience in product development and manufacturing processes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, interpreting schematics and drawings, and applying problem-solving skills to assist with manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Able to read and understand detailed work instructions, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Possess effective problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn on the job.
  • Organized with attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team, with good oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and actively support the team in Process Automation Initiatives to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) and special project initiatives, contributing to innovation and project success.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement projects, applying Lean tools and 6S methodologies to optimize processes.
  • Deepen your understanding of Lean Six Sigma process tools and how they drive operational excellence.
  • Gain proficiency in using statistical software such as JMP, with the ability to perform multi-factorial DOE (Design of Experiments).
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Product Development processes, contributing to product innovation.
  • Expand your knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in optics manufacturing, to support production improvements.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis and 8D problem-solving to address and prevent recurring issues.
