Job summary

MKS Instruments’ OSP division seeks a Manufacturing Engineering intern to support the development of new technologies and products. The intern will work under supervision within the Engineering group and participate in NPI, process automation, and continuous improvement projects.

You will gain hands‑on experience in Lean tools, DOE, and product development, while contributing to production improvements in optics manufacturing and root cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program for Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• “Able to read and understand detailed work instructions, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.”
• “Possess effective problem‑solving abilities and a willingness to learn on the job.”
• “Organized with attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team.”

Responsibilities

• Support Process Automation initiatives to improve workflow efficiency.
• Contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) and special project initiatives.
• Assist in Continuous Improvement projects using Lean tools and 6S methodologies.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to drive operational excellence.
• Use JMP for data analysis and perform Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Develop understanding of Product Development processes and manufacturing of optics.
• Assist in Root Cause Analysis and 8D problem-solving.
• Be flexible to take on additional duties as required.
