Job summary

Chevy Chase Eye Design is seeking an Optician to join our team. You will speak with patients to learn about their lifestyle and needs, take facial measurements, and help them pick eyewear and contact lenses based on their requirements. You will explain pricing and insurance coverage, and ensure HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate has exceptional customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and in-depth knowledge of the optometrist’s office.

Qualifications

• Previous Optician experience (minimum 2 years).
• State license desired, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong understanding of HIPPA.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Dispensing & Styling: Guide patients through eyewear selections tailored to prescriptions and lifestyle.
• Technical accuracy: Verify prescriptions and take precise measurements for complex lens designs.
• Delivery quality: Ensure accuracy and customize final fit for each patient.
• Patient education: Explain eyewear use, lens technologies, and care.
• Practice workflow: Schedule appointments and manage EMR/EPM records.
• Team collaboration: Work with optometrists to ensure seamless patient experience.
