EYE SPECIALISTS OF ILLINOIS SC seeks a licensed optician to work independently in our optical shop, with base salary plus commission. You will perform precise measurements, fittings, and adjustments, help patients select frames and lenses, and manage inventory and store presentation.

Strong customer service, communication, and attention to detail are essential; experience with insurance and payment processing is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service and maintains a welcoming atmosphere.
• Performs measurements, fittings, adjustments; assists patients with frames and lens options.
• Keeps current on products, rebates, and lens/frame options.
• Takes/returns patient calls; updates on orders and resolves issues.
• Dispenses glasses; inspects fit and comfort; performs adjustments and repairs.
• Creates lab work orders; specifies lens requirements.
• Cuts and grinds lenses on site as needed.
• Manages inventory; reports frame accountability.
• Handles payments; processes insurance, discounts, rebates; balances daily receipts.
• Uses pupilometers, PD Sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches, frame warmers.
• Cleans and organizes store area; maintains display appeal.
• Performs other duties as needed.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled optician to work independently in our optical shop, which is located in our ophthalmology practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service in all areas of communication to clients, team members, vendors, labs, physicians, by promoting a positive, welcoming, and professional atmosphere.
• Perform precise measurements, fittings, and adjustments to ensure superior comfort and vision quality. Assists patients in selecting frames, lens type, and lens treatments including tints and coatings, specific to each client.
• Keeps current on company/industry products and procedures, manufacturer rebates, and types of lenses and frames available.
• Takes and returns patient calls, updating patients on the status of their order and resolving order issues should they arise. Escalates any issues with the leadership team, as necessary.
• Dispenses glasses by inspecting the product, checking for proper fit, and patient comfort. Using various tools, performs eyewear adjustments and repairs.
• Creates work orders for lab technicians, specifying information on lenses needed.
• Cutting and grinding of lenses on site as needed.
• Is highly organized with strong attention to detail. Manages all areas of inventory and provides reporting for frame accountability.
• Receives customer payments, is experienced with insurance, credit card machines, calculating discounts, rebates and ensuring money received balances each day.
• Proficient in using tools such as pupilometers, PD Sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches, frame warmers, etc.
• Cleans and organizes frame boards, displays, mirrors, work area, maintaining overall cleanliness and visual appeal of the store.
• Performs other duties as needed and as assigned by leadership team.

Qualifications

• Licensed Optician
• Minimum of 2 years work experience as an optician.
• Strong knowledge of optics, lenses, and frame adjustments
• Previous experience working independently overseeing all aspects of an optical
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to precision and quality.
