Delaware Eye Care Center is seeking a patient-focused Optician for our Rudnick, DE office. This role dispenses eyeglasses and contacts, advises on lenses and frames, and ensures accurate prescriptions with high service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ABO/NCLE certification mandatory.
• Delaware Optician license preferred.
• One to two years of retail optician experience required.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and staff.
• Understanding of eye anatomy and vision standard concepts.
• Basic computer literacy and math skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient education on lens materials, products and designs.
• Interprets and transposes prescriptions for accuracy.
• Advises patients on eyewear frame selection and styling.
• Integrates frame design, lens materials, optics with lifestyle and prescription.
• Performs eyeglass frame adjustments and repairs and proper wear instructions.
• Measures lens power, pupillary distance, multifocal heights, and related specs.
• Orders custom lens products and tracks delivery timelines.
• Handles billing and insurance claims when needed.
• Orders contacts lenses and/or trials as required.
• Verifies orders for accuracy and manages returns if necessary.
• Maintains displays, stock, and tools; maintains inventory levels.
• Participates in continuing education and training to update knowledge.
• Assists in hand-off from clinic to dispensary and supports sales goals.
