Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years as a dispensing or fabricating optician.
• Familiarity with optometric and ophthalmologic terminology.
• Thorough knowledge of ophthalmic dispensing theory and practice sufficient to quality for the ABO certification exam.
• Ability to operate dispensing equipment including lens hand edger, lensometer, frame warmer, soldering units, pupilometer, and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide ophthalmic eyewear services including design, ordering, dispensing, fitting, adjusting, and repairing eyeglasses and low vision devices.
• Interpret prescriptions, measure and calculate fitting specifications, and advise on materials, frames, lenses, and options.
• Interview patients to assess occupational, lifestyle, and cosmetic needs and explain comfort, safety, and style choices.
• Maintain documentation and ensure product quality by meeting ophthalmic specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Support team goals and demonstrate professional behavior and ongoing education.
