Lee's Summit Family Eyecare in Lee's Summit, MO is seeking a skilled Optician to join our growing team. You'll bring optical expertise to a patient-focused practice where you'll assist with frames, lenses, and coatings and help patients choose the best solutions for daily wear.

You will interpret prescriptions, take precise measurements, dispense and adjust eyewear, verify insurance, and collaborate with staff to ensure a smooth, welcoming experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Optician or in optical retail preferred.
• Strong knowledge of lens types, coatings and frame materials.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong measuring and fitting accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
• Familiarity with optical practice management software is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Recommending frames, lenses, and coatings based on patient lifestyle, visual requirements, and fashion preferences
• Interpret and verify prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists
• Take accurate measurements including pupillary distance, segment height, and fitting adjustments
• Dispense, adjust, and repair eyeglasses and frames to ensure proper fit and comfort
• Verify insurance, understand (or have willing to learn) coverage and process claims
• Process and verify optical lab orders for accuracy and quality
• Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and contact lens care
• Maintain optical inventory and assist with frame board management including meeting with reps
• Maintaining accurate records of prescriptions, orders, and payments
