Job summary

Pearle Vision is seeking an Optician to deliver exceptional customer experience and promote customer and staff satisfaction. You will fill prescriptions, fit lenses and frames, and take precise measurements while advising on lenses and coatings.

You will also drive store sales, assist with merchandising, pricing accuracy, and timely promotions, while building strong relationships with customers and doctors. ABO certification is required.

We are looking for an Optician to attract and retain customers by delivering an exceptional customer experience, fostering customer retention, and promoting outstanding associate and doctor satisfaction.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive profitable store sales by fostering a retail selling culture, practicing NECE and using effective retail sales skills.
• Develop professional business relationships with other associates and doctors.
• Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fit and adapt lenses and frames, including:
  • Using optical prescriptions to evaluate customer visual requirements.
  • Asking lifestyle questions to determine customer vision needs.
  • Recommending specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit customer needs.
  • Assisting customers in selecting frames and coordinating frames with optical measurements and prescription.
  • Conducting measurements of bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers using appropriate tools (where authorized under state licensing requirements).
  • Troubleshooting vision issues confidently and bringing them to resolution for customer satisfaction.
  • Aiding in training new associates to help them understand frame and lens selection.
• Assist with ensuring each store is effectively merchandised and presented according to planogram and other company standards.
• Ensure high quality through accurate measurements, correct pricing, POS entry, and realistic delivery time quotes.
• Maximize managed vision care relationships and sales opportunities.
• Assist with the timely implementation of approved marketing programs by executing marketing programs and initiatives, and maintaining company standards for signage and promotions.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ABO certification.
• Experience and results with a retail or customer service establishment.
• Ability to sell through use of sales skills and accountability for sales results.
• Ability to present and implement decisive and creative solutions to issues and opportunities to grow the business.
• Ability to provide enthusiastic and concise communication to meet and exceed customer expectations, and foster positive and results‑oriented associate, doctor, and host relationships.
• Success in store merchandising and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage priorities through adaptability, willingness to take calculated risks, and follow‑up.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in retail operations.
• Three or more years of experience with a retail or customer service establishment.
• Experience with personal computers.
