Job summary

OptiGrate - IPG Photonics in Oviedo, FL seeks an Optical Test/Holography Intern to perform test and characterization of holographic optical elements and certify products. The role requires attention to detail, analytical skills, and hands-on optical testing experience.

Availability 15-20 hr/wk for 6-9 months is needed. Preferred candidates have optics knowledge, familiarity with LabVIEW and MathCAD, and a technical background in optics or laser systems.

Qualifications

• Technical education or training in electronics, optics, or physical sciences with emphasis on optics, photonics, or laser systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, optical, and electrical specifications using drawings and manuals.
• Experience with LabVIEW and MathCAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The successful candidate will perform test and characterization of novel holographic optical elements and provide final certification of company products. The position requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and preferably some hands-on experience in optical testing and measurement equipment. Knowledge of optics and optical physics is a strong asset. Knowledge of major computer programs is a strong asset. The position requires a minimum commitment of 15-20 hr/wk for 6-9 months.
