Job summary

Pixels on Target LLC in Florida is seeking an Optical Test Engineer to characterize and validate sensors, optical lens assemblies, and camera systems. You will work with the optical design team to measure as-built performance and compare to nominal designs, driving root-cause analysis when deviations occur.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience in optics.
• Experience with IR and visible sensors.
• Knowledge of MTF/MRTD and wavefront error.
• Hands-on experience with interferometers, collimators, and blackbody sources.
• Familiarity with optics assembly, alignment, and tolerance effects.

Responsibilities

• Quantify sensor and lens performance using MTF, MRTD, and surface irregularity measurements.
• Support optical design by measuring optical system performance and documenting deviations.
• Assemble optical systems and lens assemblies, align components, and handle delicate optics safely.
• Set up, calibrate, and operate interferometers, collimators, blackbodies, and other metrology equipment.
• Characterize camera systems, including sensor integration and image quality evaluation.
• Develop written test plans, procedures, and reports for optical assemblies.
• Debug/test setups and data acquisition; drive root-cause analysis.
• Interface cameras and test instrumentation with computers for automated data collection.
• Evaluate optomechanical assemblies for alignment, mounting, and stability.
• Maintain lab equipment, calibration records, and data integrity.
