Job summary

Arizona Optical Metrology LLC seeks an Applications Engineer to lead software development for precision optical test systems, including interferometer platforms used in space telescope programs. You will implement UIs, automate workflows, and ensure data pipelines meet customer criteria.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, translate customer requirements into procedures, and support on-site commissioning and training across global projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering or closely related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience developing measurement or instrument control software in engineering or scientific environments.
• Hands-on proficiency with Mx and/or 4Sight interferometer software, including scripting, sequence development, and data processing.
• Strong Python programming skills applied to data analysis, automation, or instrument interfacing; familiarity with NumPy/SciPy/Matplotlib.
• Experience with interferometry, wavefront measurement, or precision metrology systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work with external customers in a technical capacity.
• U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (citizen, permanent resident, or qualifying protected individual).

Responsibilities

• Lead development, integration, and deployment of software for precision optical test systems.
• Develop and maintain application UIs with scripting and automation workflows in Mx and 4Sight environments.
• Build data acquisition, analysis, and reporting pipelines tied to customer acceptance criteria.
• Own software configuration management for deployed applications including version control and release procedures.
• Support system-level integration and acceptance testing at the facility and at customer sites.
• Translate customer requirements into executable test procedures and configurations.
• Provide on-site commissioning, training and customer support for deployed systems.
• Capture and communicate customer feedback to drive product roadmap.
