Job summary

US Eye in Mt. Pleasant, SC is seeking an Optical Technician to join our high-end optical retail team. This entry-level opportunity combines customer service with medical device familiarity and on-the-job training.

You will support patients by taking orders, assisting with lenses and frames, and coordinating with Opticians. The position offers daytime hours, a team-oriented environment, and opportunities to develop a career in opticianry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; great entry-level opportunity to develop a career in opticianry.
• Ability to communicate with patients and listen to needs effectively.
• Customer service or service-related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Listen and address needs of patients as evidenced by company standards and policies.
• Answer the phones, and communicate patient’s needs to the Opticians and Optical Technicians.
• Efficiently take orders for contact lenses, create contact lens encounters and order lenses from ABB or other supplier.
• Navigate insurance websites to assist patients with the available benefits and cost associated with their plan.
• Sell and create encounters for accessories.
• Learn the lensometer.
• Oversee Frame Inventory.
• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and manage time accordingly in order to meet deadlines and requirements of the organization.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position based in Mt. Pleasant, SC. (Belle Hall-Location)
• Full‑time position with days and hours Monday through Thursday 8:30AM-4:30PM and Friday 8:30AM-3:00PM
• Travel to other locations as necessary

Education and Experience:

• A high school graduate or equivalent (required)
• Excellent communication and listening skills in order to properly address patient needs (required)
• Customer Service or service-related experience is a plus (required)
• US Eye will train the candidate, and this would be a great entry level position to develop a career in Opticianry.
