Job summary

Monroe Community College seeks a Part-Time Faculty member (80%) for Optical Systems Technology in Rochester, NY. The selected candidate will teach face-to-face and online courses, develop instructional materials, and contribute to program assessment while supporting MCC students’ educational and career goals.

This temporary, grant-funded position may be renewed annually contingent on grant availability and performance.

Qualifications

• Earned bachelor’s degree or higher in Optics (or related field) from a regionally accredited institution, or an associate’s degree in Optics with 3+ years of related experience.
• Evidence of effective communication skills (interpersonal, speaking, writing).
• Commitment to supporting an inclusive campus environment.
• Evidence of proficiency with technology and commitment to professional growth.
• Available to teach late afternoon and evening courses.

Responsibilities

• Teaches face-to-face and online Optical Systems Technology courses; prepares syllabi and instructional materials.
• Develops online Optical Systems Technology courses and engaging activities for student learning.
• Maintains attendance, grades, and student records; supports retention initiatives.
• Participates in department meetings, committee work, and program assessment.
• Demonstrates current subject area knowledge and employs high-impact teaching practices.
