Job summary

Etched is seeking an exceptional Optical Systems Engineer to own the optical interconnect architecture for our accelerator systems and to help scale manufacturing capabilities.

You will lead architecture, evaluate next-generation interconnects, and drive prototypes from definition to volume production while collaborating with SI, PCB, ASIC, thermal, and mechanical teams to implement electrical-optical interfaces in high-performance AI servers.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of optical interconnect, transceiver, or photonic system design experience.
• Expertise in Co-Packaged Optics, Near-Packaged Optics, Open CPX and OCI.
• Strong understanding of energy-per-bit, bandwidth density, latency and reliability.
• Fundamentals in link-budget analysis, OSNR, eye diagrams, jitter and FEC margins.
• Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as 100G/200G PAM4.

Responsibilities

• Lead optical link architecture and system design for accelerator systems.
• Evaluate and integrate next-gen interconnect tech into the product roadmap.
• Drive prototypes through definition, validation, and volume production.
• Collaborate with SI, PCB, ASIC, thermal, and mechanical teams on optical-electrical interfaces.
• Engage with suppliers on specifications, qualification, and integration.
• Capture interconnect requirements for topology, reach, connectors, and fiber management.
• Bring up optical interfaces on accelerator cards and debug with test equipment.
• Define bring-up strategies and support test development for high-volume manufacturing.
• Own optics documentation including AVLs, BOMs, and assembly procedures.
