Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Principal Optical Quality Engineer to lead quality for optical communication systems between satellites. You will own QA strategies across design, build, and manufacturing, driving metrology-based solutions and supplier development.

The role demands a systems thinker with strong analysis, clear communication, and a passion for high-volume, high-precision hardware production. The position is based in California with global collaboration.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in optical systems development across full product life cycles.
Experience with optical metrology for component and system test, qualification, and failure analysis.
Experience with optical thin film coating methodologies and related processes.

Responsibilities

Lead quality elements in design, build, and qualification of optical systems and metrology for inter-satellite links.
Implement optical inspections and tests in the supply chain.
Drive resolution of technical problems in optical testing and manufacturing.
Develop and improve optical measurement methods using interferometers, cameras, and imaging systems.
Develop measurement processes for volume manufacturing.
Collaborate with engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing to optimize Design for Excellence.
Advance upstream quality checks to reduce in-product inspections.
Foster a culture of quality and continuous learning.
