Job summary

ASQ in Boulder, CO is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to perform hands-on inspections of precision optics and verify measurements to ensure components meet strict specifications before moving to production. The role spans manufacturing floor and lab-style inspection environments.

You will read drawings, use handheld and automated measurement tools, and contribute to continuous improvement by documenting results and training junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in quality inspection, QA, or QC in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) is a plus.
• Strong math skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Inspect optical surfaces using established visual inspection criteria.
• Use handheld tools and automated measurement equipment to verify part dimensions.
• Inspect complex optics and assemblies, including inspection equipment setup.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, prints, and specifications.
• Review process sheets, coating data, interferometer scans, and material certifications.
• Complete First Article Inspections with minimal supervision.
• Document inspection results and identify nonconforming material.
• Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve issues and share improvement ideas.
• Support process improvement efforts through data collection and testing.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior QA and Manufacturing Technicians.
