Job summary

The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc. in Cambridge, MA, is seeking an Optical Instrument Engineer to develop electro-mechanical inertial sensors for cutting-edge guidance applications.

You will work with a team of engineers and physicists to build gyroscope, accelerometer and sensor prototypes, characterize performance, and drive production roll-out. Requires a bachelors in Mechanical, Applied Physics, Electrical or Computer Engineering; 3–5 years of hardware instrument engineering

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelors degree in Mechanical, Applied Physics, Electrical or Computer Engineering; Masters or PhD preferred.
  • Requires 3–5 years of Hardware Instrument Engineering or related experience.
  • Applicants must obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Applies technical knowledge to instrument domains and seeks new skills as needed.
  • Analyzes requirements and develops precision instruments with minimal guidance.
  • Designs experiments and hardware to prove viable concepts.
  • Collaborates to design prototype and production hardware to meet needs.
  • Integrates instruments into larger systems and delivers performance metrics.
