Job summary

Draper, an independent R&D organization in Cambridge, MA, seeks a Senior Solid-State Sensor Engineer to advance inertial instruments for aerospace and defense applications. You will develop gyroscope and accelerometer prototypes, characterize performance, and enable production roll-out to meet stringent requirements.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Applied Physics, Electrical or Computer Engineering; masters or PhD preferred.
  • Requires 5–10 years of experience in Hardware Instrument Engineering or related.

Responsibilities

  • Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction to design and develop precision instruments.
  • Mentor less experienced Hardware Instrument engineers.
  • Design experiments and experimental precision instruments to prove viable concepts.
  • Collaborate with engineers to design prototype and production hardware to meet application needs.
  • Integrate precision instruments into larger systems and meet performance metrics.
  • Develop initial processes for fabrication of custom instruments.
  • Draft and present technical documents, reports, and testing results for approval.
  • Provide training related to devices to employees, sub-contractors and/or customers.
  • Perform independent research when needed to solve problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
