Job summary

Gooch & Housego PLC in Fremont seeks a Senior Manager of Optical Fabrication to lead precision optical fabrication and coating operations. You will drive safety, quality, yield, throughput, cycle time, cost and on-time delivery while collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Facilities and Maintenance.

The role requires deep technical experience in optical fabrication/coatings and at least 7–10 years of manufacturing leadership in a high-tech environment, with a track record of building

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience in precision optics, optical fabrication, optical coatings, photonics, semiconductors, or similar high- tech environment.
• 7+ years of manufacturing leadership overseeing production teams and performance.
• Deep knowledge of optical fabrication and/or optical coating processes.
• Proven success in improving safety, quality, yield, throughput, cycle time and cost.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, CAPA or related continuous-improvement methodologies.
• Experience supporting NPI, process transfers, equipment qualification, capacity expansion, and production ramps.
• Ability to develop leaders, build organizational capability, and drive accountability.
• Strong cross-functional leadership with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, Facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across optical fabrication and coating operations, establishing priorities for safety, quality, yield, throughput, cycle time, cost, and on-time delivery.
• Translate business and customer requirements into manufacturing priorities and capacity plans with Production Planning.
• Establish and monitor key manufacturing metrics and drive corrective actions for sustained improvement.
• Lead continuous improvement across operations using Lean, 6S, Kaizen and data-driven problem solving.
• Partner with Engineering and Quality to resolve complex production issues and implement long-term improvements.
• Lead manufacturing readiness for process transfers, new product introduction, equipment qualification, and capacity expansion.
• Develop leaders and technicians, building organizational capability and a high-performance culture.
• Promote safety, quality, cleanroom and compliance standards across teams.
