Job summary

IPG Defense, headquartered in Huntsville, AL, seeks an Optical Engineering Technician to support high‑energy laser systems. You will characterize beams, align optics, assemble fiber-optic components, and maintain laser equipment, while documenting results and contributing to safety compliance.

You will work in a clean-room style lab environment with hands-on tasks across the product lifecycle, including testing procedures and manufacturing support.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Photonics Technology or related field; military optical/laser training acceptable.
• 2–5 years hands-on experience in optics, laser systems, or photonics manufacturing.
• Proficiency with optical test and metrology equipment and precision alignment.

Responsibilities

• Execute laser beam characterization and beam-quality measurements.
• Set up and align optical benches; assemble optical systems.
• Document data in laboratory databases and support manufacturing QC.
• Operate and maintain high-power laser systems following safety protocols.
