Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise invites an Optical Engineering Intern to join our hybrid team, working on-site about 2 days per week in California. You will help develop automated test solutions and contribute to DVT, firmware validation, and AI-driven workflows for cutting-edge 400G/800G and emerging 1.6T optics.

You will gain hands-on experience with lab automation, data analysis, and engineering collaborations across hardware and software domains in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Experience through coursework, co-op terms, personal projects, or research in software development, hardware testing, or networking technologies.
• Exposure to laboratory environments, automation, or embedded systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated test solutions using Python, LabVIEW, and related tools.
• Support Design Verification Testing (DVT) and characterization of optical transceivers and networking hardware.
• Assist with optical module performance testing, data analysis, and report generation.
• Contribute to firmware validation and testing activities for active electrical loopback (ELB) modules and related hardware platforms.
• Explore and develop AI-based tools and agents to improve engineering workflows, data analysis, and productivity.
• Analyze test results, identify issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive resolution.
