Job summary

MediaTek seeks an experienced firmware leader to architect, develop, and bring up embedded firmware for optical engine platforms in San Jose, CA or Woburn, MA. The role covers MCU/processor selection, digitals for custom ASICs, and robust CI workflows.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate across optical systems, DSP, ASIC, and manufacturing, and drive firmware integration from design to production.

Qualifications

• 7+ years for Senior Principal; 10+ years for Distinguished
• Deep experience in optical engine firmware development
• Experience defining embedded firmware architecture (MCU/processor, memory, boot)
• CMIS implementation for optical modules
• Firmware bring-up and debugging across cross-functional teams
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead architecture reviews

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, debug, and release embedded firmware for optical engine platforms.
• Define MCU/processor, memory, boot, and peripheral requirements for subsystems.
• Generate and own digital requirements for custom optical control ASICs.
• Partner with ASIC/RTL/verification teams to drive bring-up and debug.
• Develop firmware for PIC control algorithms and calibration loops.
• Implement CMIS-compliant firmware for module control and telemetry.
• Lead firmware bring-up for new optical modules and control ASICs.
• Develop firmware for manufacturing, test, and calibration environments.
• Define and improve firmware development flow and CI processes.
• Drive root-cause analysis across lab bring-up and field scenarios.
• Mentor engineers through leadership and code reviews.
