Qualifikationen

• BS/BA in Materials Science, Physics, or engineering discipline.
• 3-5 years in technical sales, business development or customer-facing program/product management role.
• Experience in optical coatings, glass fabrication, photonics or related markets preferred.
• Ability to develop and execute account strategy and sales forecasts; drive pipeline to growth.
• Excellent influencing, negotiation, presentation, training and written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to support customers, factory visits and tradeshows.

• Develop accurate quotations including thin film design, tooling designs, cost estimates, and labor/time for coating.
• Ensure orders align with quotations and meet performance/quality specs; communicate with production and quality teams.
• Track orders through production and provide timely updates on status and schedule changes.
• Respond to customer inquiries promptly with engineering and sales support as needed.
• Maintain current customer base through excellent service; manage order tracking and shipping schedules.
• Expand customer base via trade shows, calls, visits, and leads from advertising or website.

The Position

The Optical Application Engineer is part of a multi-disciplinary team directly involved with maintaining and growing the company’s sales and market position in a rapidly growing optics community. This role includes solving problems for customers and developing unique solutions for their technical challenges. This position works closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and management to develop new opportunities and solutions for our customers. Candidates should possess effective communication skills, a love for attacking technical challenges, and be willing to grow their engineering and managerial knowledge for the future.

Job Responsibilities

• Advise present and potential customers on the best coating(s) to fit their specific applications and requirements including spectral performance, environmental needs, and budgetary considerations.
• Developing accurate quotations including any required thin film design, tooling designs, cost estimates for outside vendor services, inside labor and coating time.
• Comparing every incoming order to the matching quotation insuring agreed upon performance and quality specifications are correct and communicated to production and quality personnel.
• Following orders through production and providing timely information to the customer about order status and possible schedule changes.
• Responding to customer calls, emails and requests quickly and providing engineering and sales support as needed.
• Maintain current customer base by providing excellent customer service. Manage tracking order status and shipment schedule. Respond to all customer questions and concerns in a timely manner.
• Expanding current customer base through trade shows, calls, customer visits, word of mouth, personal contacts or leads generated by ECI advertising or website traffic.

Qualifications

• BS/BA Materials Science, Physics, or one of the Engineering disciplines
• 3-5 years in technical sales, business development or customer facing program or product management role.
• Preferred industry experience in optical coatings, glass fabrication, photonics, or similar market segments.
• Ability to develop and execute account strategy, sales forecasts, drive pipeline/funnel to achieve growth objectives.
• Learn our solutions, understand customer applications, needs, market trends, and the competing market alternatives.
• Excellent influencing, negotiation, presentation, training and written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in computer, software, data analysis, documentation skills: Salesforce, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, video conferencing, and comfort utilizing ERP systems
• Able to travel to support customer and factory visits, tradeshows or other sales as needed.
