Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an experienced operations leader in Newport Beach, CA for a high-visibility role with a defined path to Chief Operating Officer. You will work directly with the current COO, owning and optimizing the wealth management technology stack including Addepar, Salesforce, Orion, and more.

The role requires 5+ years in wealth-management operations and 2+ years of hands-on Addepar administration, with strong people and vendor management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operations within an RIA, wealth management firm, or family office.
• 2+ years Addepar administration, including data management and reporting.
• Proven people management experience is required.
• Wealth tech stack ownership and cross-functional project/vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the current COO in leadership succession and knowledge transfer.
• Own and optimize wealth management technology ecosystem including Addepar, Salesforce, Orion, RedBlack, eMoney, Broadridge/ProxyEdge, Schwab Institutional.
• Manage technology vendors, licensing, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ongoing service.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows through automation, AI, and technology integration.
• Directly manage operations, accounting, and administrative staff, with responsibility expanding over time.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
• Lead cross-functional projects from planning through completion, including technology rollouts and vendor transitions.
• Build project timelines, budgets, priorities, and status reporting for firm leadership.
• Manage external vendors and contractors across operational, facilities, marketing, and administrative initiatives.
• Support HR administration, benefits coordination, office operations, and compliance-related processes.
• Gradually assume broader decision-making authority and firm-wide operational ownership for the COO track.
• Develop strong relationships with employees, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
