Responsibilities

  • Coordinate technical requirements for scheduled events with UFPA directors and clients.
  • Assist in inventory maintenance, equipment care, and cleanliness of stage/backstage areas.
  • Provide written progress reports per shift supervised and document training practices.

Job Description

Classification Title: OPS Stagehand

Classification Minimum Requirements
  • Position requires supervision of large numbers of employees of varying skill levels in multiple assignments and shifts
  • General working knowledge of equipment and procedures used in theatre and live show production
  • Must maintain a calm and professional demeanor in interactions with guests, coworkers, and client users of the facility
  • Capacity and willingness for strenuous manual labor with industry standard equipment and materials
  • Excellent competence and judgement regarding safe and effective work methods for a wide variety of events and installations. Including the ability to communicate standard processes to fellow employees
  • Successful supervision and teamwork at fast pace and under intense schedule pressure
  • Ability to work evenings/nights, weekends and holidays as needed and on short notice
  • Can be called upon to provide training and supervision of Part-Time OPS Stagehand crew
  • Can complete tasks without supervision
  • Ability to be punctual to all work shifts

This position requires employees to work from 35-40 hours per week thus students will not be eligible

Job Description
  • Common stagehand tasks include but are not limited to— loading and unloading trucks, pushing road cases, assembling stage sets, hanging & cabling lighting instruments, setting up sound and video equipment, hanging soft goods, set-up and strike of orchestra shell, risers, chairs, music stands, tables, and vinyl dance floor.
  • Plan and Implement technical requirements for scheduled events as assigned by UFPA technical directors
  • Communicate with outside clients to coordinate technical requirements for events as assigned
  • Assist Technical Supervisors with the inventory, maintenance, and repair of all technical equipment, including assisting in the cleanliness and organization of the stage and backstage areas
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times by following all established safety policies
  • Provide written reports of progress per shift supervised
  • Documentation of part time OPS stagehand training and safe work practices
Expected Salary

$17.00-$21.00/hr commensurate with experience

Preferred
  • Experience with touring production in facilities of similar type and size
  • Past Supervisory experience in a related field
Special Instructions to Applicants

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate effectively by speaking and listening. The employee must regularly lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is performed in a live performance venue environment and may include exposure to elevated work areas, overhead loads, loud noise, and low-light conditions.

Position Schedule & Availability: This is a part-time, as-needed, hourly position with a highly variable schedule based on production and event needs. Hours are not guaranteed. Work assignments may include daytime, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve all phases of production work including maintenance, planning, preparation, technical installation and removal, rehearsals, performances, load-ins, and strikes.

Transportation Requirement: Reliable transportation is required.

Hiring Timeline: Anticipated interviews will be conducted in late August to early September 2026, with a tentative start date of September 21, 2026.
