Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting with, and then independently running, behavioral experiments in mice.
  • General lab upkeep, logistics, supplies ordering, and supporting ongoing research.
  • The candidate will also be given the opportunity to lead their own project, potentially leading to a scientific publication.
Qualifications

A four-year B.S. or B.A. degree (or higher) in the life or physical sciences.

  • Previous experience working with laboratory animals, ideally rodents.
  • Strong time-management skills, a professional attitude, a desire to learn new techniques, and the ability to work with a team of students and researchers.
  • A strong interest in laboratory research.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with behavioral or histological techniques.
  • Previous coursework in genetics, biology, chemistry, research techniques, or animal handling/procedures.

Dr. Roberto Vincis' laboratory in the Department of Biological Science and Program in Neuroscience at Florida State University.

Our research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying taste, flavor, and feeding behavior. We use a combination of genetic, optogenetic, chemogenetic, electrophysiological, and behavioral techniques in mice to explore how the brain processes the sensory and rewarding features of food and uses them to guide eating decisions.

Anticipated Salary Range

Compensation is based on experience. This will be a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
