Work Hours: Varies; Monday – Friday 20 to 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as contract manager and Project Management Professional (PMP) on all assigned construction-related projects to ensure accountability of work completed. Fulfills all associated duties of a Florida Certified Contract Manager and Project Management Institute (PMI) certified Project Management Professional (PMP)including but not limited to: initiating the procurement process, monitoring project activities and deliverables, complying with Florida Statutes and codes, managing the vendor relationship, and ensuring proper invoicing. Provides programming services and develops advertisements for architectural/engineering (A/E) services as well as requests for proposal and invitation to bid advertisements for associated service contracts. Assists in the selection, negotiation and preparation of contracts and additional professional services for projects based on budgets, established specifications, standards and guidelines. Coordinates the preparation of A/E designs, cost estimates, specifications, and required documentation. Inspects projects to verify compliance and completeness of A/E services throughout the construction process to ensure projects remain within the established timeline and budget. Works cooperatively with all appropriate construction professionals. Reviews construction documents relevant to area of responsibility including plans, specifications, and drawings for accuracy and code compliance.
  • Works collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Construction, Construction Project Consultants I and II. Ensures the proper performance of various construction and project vendors. Preparation for construction bidding or construction management services with the A/E. Review of pre-construction services, campus staff coordination, scheduling, and cost control. Contract review of bid or GMP, permitting, and notice to proceed. Coordinates all construction activities, meetings, site reviews, quality assurance, and daily contact of construction staff on any assigned project. Maintains campus standards, reports, change orders, substantial completions, code inspections, certificate to occupy, and final completion documents. Maintains one (1) year warranty and inspection. Assists with the creation of the Legislative Budget Request and the Campus-Facilities Master Plan. Maintains documentation needed to support any assigned or proposed project.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Construction as needed. Reports to the Executive Director of Safety and Facilities Operations.
  • Coordinate and attend training to obtain skills in order to be placed in the "On-Call" rotation schedule to meet campus needs.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Current certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Project Management Institute (PMI) member;
  • Knowledge of construction principles and techniques;
  • Knowledge of mathematics;
  • Knowledge of construction materials;
  • Knowledge of planning and monitoring techniques;
  • Knowledge and skills with a personal computer;
  • Ability to review and interpret contract documents, building plans, and specifications;
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, building codes, regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to inspect construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications;
  • Ability to develop cost estimates;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to complete training and administer skills acquired during CPR;
