Job summary

Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego is seeking a Full Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Ophthalmology department. The ophthalmology technician will assist the ophthalmologist in surgical and medical eye care, provide support in exam rooms and hospital settings, and will focus on ophthalmology patients with potential cross-training as needed.

The role requires at least 2 years of veterinary experience with anesthesia, strong communication skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the veterinary field with anesthesia experience.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and assist ophthalmology procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with consults in the exam rooms.
• Perform STT, evaluate PLR, and assist with anterior chamber assessment.
• Proficient in tonometry, fluorescein staining, and dilation.
• Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, calculations and administration of medications.
• Record medical information during exams and explain treatments to clients.
• Assist with ophthalmic surgical procedures and monitor recovery.
• Learn and use specialized ophthalmic equipment and instruments.
