Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network in Central New York is seeking an Ophthalmologist to join our staff in Cooperstown. You will work with an established team of five ophthalmologists and three optometrists in a high-volume practice with cataract surgery and medical retina services.

The ideal candidate will be board eligible or certified in ophthalmology, hold a New York medical license, and be willing to participate in on-call duties.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS degree required.
• Board eligibility or board certification in Ophthalmology.
• Completion of an accredited USA Ophthalmology program.
• New York medical license or eligibility to obtain.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Join an established group of 5 Ophthalmologists and 3 Optometrists
• High-volume cataract surgeon-general ophthalmologist
• Sub-specialty interest in glaucoma, oculoplastic, cornea or cataract surgery welcomed
• Support staff experienced in clinic and operating room
• On call every 5th weekend
• Practice within Bassett Healthcare Network, across an 8-county region
• Be part of Bassett, affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons
• Visa sponsorship available – J-1 and H-1B welcomed

• Salary Range: $433,000 - $525,000
• Sign-on Bonus: up to $100,000
• Location: Cooperstown, NY
• Residency/Fellowship Stipend: Up to $40,000

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Join an established group of 5 Ophthalmologists and 3 Optometrists
• Current need is for high volume cataract surgeon-general ophthalmologist
• Currently there are specialists in medical retina, pediatrics and glaucoma. Sub-specialty interest in glaucoma, oculoplastic, cornea and cataract surgery would be welcome
• The support staff is well trained and experienced in both the clinic and operating room
• On call is every 5th weekend and rarely busy
• Practice within Bassett Healthcare Network, an integrated system delivering care across an 8-county region

Compensation

• Salary Range: $433,000 - $525,000 plus performance-based compensation.
• This compensation range represents Bassett Healthcare’s good faith belief of the compensation range at the time of this posting or advertisement. Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards
• Residency stipend up to $40,000 for up to 18 months prior to graduation
• Sign-on Bonus up to $100,000
• Bassett offers Physicians an incentive plan with no earnings cap. Individual performance and productivity can significantly enhance compensation with potential upside realized within the first year of employment
