The successful candidate will have an orthopedic residency and NY licensure, with opportunities for fellowship in related areas. Bassett offers a supportive team, relocation considerations, and a broad referral base.

Qualifications

• MD, DO or MBBS with orthopedics residency completed or eligible.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and musculoskeletal exam proficiency.
• Experience with joint injections/aspirations and fracture care.
• Ability to manage upper/lower extremity trauma and perioperative care.
• May perform arthroscopic or arthroplasty procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide general orthopedic care with trauma coverage and weekday call.
• Collaborate with APCs, residents, and medical students within Bassett.
• Serve Cooperstown, NY with a full support staff and trauma room.
• Maintain call schedule (1:9) with shared physician group responsibilities.
• Manage referrals from a large primary care network.

Salary Details

• Salary Range: $503,000 - $619,000
• Sign-on Bonus: up to $100,000

Description

Bassett Healthcare Network is an integrated health care system that provides care and service to people living in an eight county region covering 5,600 square miles in Central New York. The organization includes five corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, community and school- based health centers, and health partners in related fields. Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown is a 180 Bed Primary Hospital, Level III Trauma Center.

Job Description & Responsibilities

• The division is looking for a surgeon preferentially with 5 years experience in general orthopedic practice. Additional fellowship training will be considered, but is not necessary. Required skills:
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to obtain medical histories and perform musculoskeletal examinations and review diagnostic imaging to successfully diagnose orthopedic conditions.
• Be facile in performing joint injections and aspirations, placing cast splints and braces; performing closed reductions of fractures and developing rehabilitation plans appropriate to each condition.
• Capable of managing routine Level 3 orthopedic trauma conditions of the upper and lower extremity.
• Be able to manage orthopedic infections and to manage patients in the perioperative period in the hospital.
• May occasionally perform arthroscopic or arthroplasties of the knee hip or shoulder.
• An established group of Orthopedic Surgeons with a full support staff including APC’s with Surgical Residents and Medical Student Interaction
• Practice within Bassett Healthcare Network, an integrated system delivering care across an 8-county region
• Become a part of Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive academic health system and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
• General Orthopedic Call Required 1:9 days- Dedicated orthopedic trauma room is available for weekday coverage, shared call with whole Physician group – APC 1st call system in place
• Referral Base of over 150 Primary Care Clinicians

Qualifications

• MD, DO or MBBS
• Completion of an accredited residency in orthopedic surgery, successful completion of which results in board eligibility
• NYS Licensure
• BLS Certification Required
• DEA Required

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $503,000 - $619,000*
• This compensation range represents Bassett Healthcare’s good faith belief of the compensation range at the time of this posting or advertisement. Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards
