Job summary

UAB is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead a team handling a large electronic health record data repository focused on ophthalmologic diseases. The role involves extracting clinical variables from the EPIC EHR, cleaning and organizing data for analysis, and collaborating with clinicians and biostatisticians within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Qualifications

PhD in a related field with 7+ years of related experience or Master's with 9+ years.
Experience with EPIC training is preferred.
Proficiency with Oracle databases, PL/SQL, or MS SQL Server T-SQL.
Knowledge of Tableau, SAS, and R is a plus.

Responsibilities

Research discrepancies and resolve obstacles to improve data pipelines.
Engage with external clinical and technical leads across roles.
Function as project manager, tracking active sites and maintaining the repository for ~25 sites.
Manage a team of technical professionals building a repository for ophthalmologic data.
Develop, maintain, and utilize a database to monitor multiple projects and site data.
Identify and automate manual efforts to streamline data pipelines.
Establish familiarity with external data sources and analyze data relationships.
Perform other duties as assigned.
