Loma Linda University Health Ophthalmology is seeking an Ophthalmology Assistant to perform visual acuity testing, tonometry, keratometry, and basic diagnostic tests. The role includes preparing patients, taking histories, and assisting with minor procedures, under supervision of ophthalmic physicians.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, with six months in ophthalmology/optometry front/back office and proficiency with Windows software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum six months of experience in front and/or back office in ophthalmology or optometry, or a combination of equivalent education and experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient prep, history-taking, and physical forms.
  • Perform basic ophthalmic tests and use testing instruments.
  • Transcribe chart notes and transcribe eyeglass prescriptions.
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures and injections.
  • Prepare patients for specialized testing and ensure equipment readiness.
