Summit Health is seeking a Per Diem Ophthalmology Assistant to support patient visits, schedule appointments, and manage diagnostic procedures in a fast-paced clinic.

The role involves maintaining exam rooms, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation in the EHR while supporting physicians and staff to deliver high-quality eye care. Per diem hours offer flexible scheduling in a patient-centric office setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–1 years experience; 2–4 years preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• English communication skills required.
• Knowledge of vision procedures and sterilization processes.
• Knowledge of ophthalmology equipment and instruments.
• Experience with EHR and practice management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient visits and scheduling of appointments and diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain equipment and instruments, order supplies, and prep exam rooms.
• Document vision tests, field tests and other procedures in the EHR.
• Ensure efficient patient flow and accurate charting and recordkeeping.
• Communicate with Supervisors and complete referrals per guidelines.
• Reconcile encounters daily and manage appointment confirmations and calls.
