Job summary

Health Wealth Safe ophthalmic assistant role collaborates with clinic physicians to perform basic to complex eye care tasks. You will document patient histories, input treatment recommendations, and assist with procedures and ocular measurements.

Responsibilities include administering topical medications, tonometry, sterilization, and communicating post-operative instructions. Strong communication and EMR proficiency are essential in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of medical or ophthalmic scribing experience (preferred).
  • High school diploma or GED; some college coursework or an associate degree (preferred).
  • JCAHPO certification and CPR (preferred).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and HIPAA compliance; proficiency in EMR.
  • Additional language skills are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Document patient medical histories and input treatment recommendations.
  • Assist with lensometry, diagnostic testing (HVF, HRT, IOLmaster, fundus photography), and ocular measurements.
  • Administer topical medications and perform tonometry.
  • Maintain sterilization protocols and assist with punctual plugs.
  • Communicate post-operative instructions effectively.
