Job summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs in Fresno, CA seeks an Ophthalmologist to join a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive eye care to veteran patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

You will perform surgical procedures, supervise residents, and collaborate with optometry and other specialties while contributing to quality improvement and ensuring high standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver medical and surgical eye care to veterans, including cataract, glaucoma, and other ophthalmic procedures.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and referrals as needed.
• Interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and manage acute and chronic ocular diseases.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and collaborate with other specialties and optometry.
• Supervise, teach, and mentor optometry residents and medical students.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and adhere to VA policies.
• Maintain precise and timely medical documentation.
• Provide call coverage to support care of veterans after hours/weekends
