Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is recruiting an Optometrist for the Montana VA Health Care System at Ft Harrison VA Medical Center. The role encompasses outpatient and inpatient eye care, routine and complex eye exams, and prescribing within the optometry scope.

The provider will maintain electronic records the same day and participate in mandatory trainings and center committees as required. This is a full-time position with the VA’s comprehensive Total Rewards package.

Qualifications

• Independently practice optometry to the fullest extent of clinical privileges.
• Provide outpatient and inpatient care for patients.
• Perform routine and complex eye exams.
• Prescribe medications within the defined scope of optometry practice.
• Assist in meeting Performance Measures and Eye Quality Indicators for clinical eye care.

Responsibilities

• Independently practice optometry to the fullest extent of their clinical privileges.
• Provide outpatient and inpatient care for patients.
• Perform routine and complex eye exams.
• Prescribe medications within the defined scope of optometry practice.
• Complete the electronic medical record generated with direct patient care on the day of the encounter.
• Attend mandatory medical center committee meetings and comply with computer and privacy directives.
