Job summary

SEARHC is seeking an ophthalmologist to provide comprehensive medical and surgical eye care in outpatient and surgical settings across Southeast Alaska, including field clinics. You will perform evaluations, manage glaucoma, retinal and corneal conditions, and collaborate with optometrists and staff.

Travel to field sites and annual medical staff education are expected as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor’s degree, medical school degree, and an accredited ophthalmology residency.
• Active Alaska medical license
• Board Certified or Eligible

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive ophthalmology medical and surgical services to SEARHC patients, including evaluations, clinical analysis, diagnosis, surgery, and treatment.
• Evaluates and treats glaucoma, retinal or corneal conditions, macular degeneration, and related pathologies.
• Performs ophthalmology surgeries such as cataract and retinal procedures.
• Collaborates with optometrists, ophthalmic technicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Participates in quality assessment and improvement initiatives with medical leadership.
• Remains current on ophthalmology treatments and advances through education and training.
• Provides educational programs to SEARHC medical staff at least annually.
• Builds and promotes the ophthalmology service line with SEARHC leadership and communities.
